2022 beauty trends and 2023 predictions

In 2022, we seen a lot of experimental makeup trends, and we would be lying if we said we weren’t obsessed with each and every one of them! From the Glass Skin, to the Graphic Liners, it was definitely the year for stepping out your comfort zone and trying something new. We want to look back at what trends were hot, what ones were not and what ones we believe will be following us into 2023.

2022 beauty trends and 2023 predictions GlamCandy

Natural glass looking skin was a massive hit in 2022, and we believe that it isn’t going anywhere. Think liquid contours and blushes with lightweight creamy formulas, allowing your skin to breath as well as giving that natural, effortless look – this was definitely a vibe. Healthy skin is always in and we can’t see this trend shifting anywhere in 2023. Is this the year you switch completely from full coverage to skin tints?

Negative space eyeliner was also the one. Here at GlamCandy, we experimented with those a lot during the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show and the end looks where extremely edgy and on point. Pairing up your liner game with the natural glass skin look? Stunning. The eyes are the one part of the face that allows you to be as creative as possible with next to no limitations, and we don’t see that stopping anytime soon. In 2023, we can see us shifting from the graphic liners, to more sooty, smoked out eyes. Smudged liner and soft blends, creating that grunge-tastic, vampy look.

The contoured lip trend, our girl Alice here at GlamCandy is the absolute QUEEN of a contoured lip. Whether you’re going for subtle or more prominent, glossy or matte, by using your liners and lipstick you can create an effortless contoured lip. As much as this was a BIG hit for 2022, we can see it slightly changing throughout 2023. Contoured lips out, BOLD lips in. Stop the show in 2023 and step out your comfort zone. We can see a lot of daring, eye-catching colours being experimented with this year to really pull your makeup look together. Line those lips to keep the outline crisp and sharp and go wild.

GLITTER. We had a blast playing with glitter at London Fashion Week, it definitely made a comeback in 2022 and we hope it’s here to stay for 2023. Euphoria is to blame for this one, and let’s be serious…Sparkle is always in, right? We feel in 2023 there may be shift, from sparkle to metallic, sending us those intergalactic vibes with face embellishments. Again, with the eyes having very few limitations on how you can experiment, we predict you will see more looks incorporating fun materials, such as gems in and around the eyes. Will you dare to try it out?
