Working On Set of New Movie Dust – Student Success
GlamCandy HND student, Amy Walker, works alongside Edinburgh Napier University on the set of new movie, Dust.
Devoted student, Amy Walker, consistently impressed tutors with her talent whilst studying her HND with GlamCandy.
Due to her dedication and selflessness towards fellow classmates, Amy was selected by tutor Amanda McCarthy to complete a character creation for new film, Dust.
SHOOT DAY
Shooting for the film took place at the Simulation and Clinic Centre at Napier University, an exact replica of a hospital ward. The brief was to create a look that showed an extremely unwell older woman in hospital, passing away from an illness.
PRODUCTION
Amy arrived early to prepare her client for production, ensuring both she and the actress were positioned in the correct lighting to create the desired look for the character.
PRODUCTS USED
The look created was to emphasise the poorly state of the woman with bruises and hollowed eyes. The products that Amy used were as follows:
3. Mehron Bruise Wheel – used to give the model the look of having jaundice
4. MAC Lipstick, Lightly Charred – to give the model blue-toned lips as a sign of a lack of oxygen
5. Avene Thermal Spring Water – to make the model look ‘sweaty’ to emphasise the severity of their condition
6. Wella Professionals Reflection Oil – to give the hair a greasy effect
Talking of her on set experience, Amy said, “Studying my HND helped with this as I had knowledge from our character unit, where we learned to create looks for illness.
“Prior to every application Amanda, our tutor, would do research in class and then we would create the look. Therefore, I already had mood boards and ideas ready to present to the producer and director. “
