GlamCandy and St Andrews University students liaise for the annual charity fashion show, sponsored by Veuve Clicquot and Eden Mill.

HISTORY
Since 1992, the St Andrews Charity Fashion Show (FS) has been the pinnacle in bringing awareness of current societal issues to local Scottish communities. With every year being more fabulous than the last, FS has grown in size, reach and grandeur.
The St Andrews Charity Fashion show was created as a creative outlet for St Andrews students to voice their beliefs through art and fashion. In its 27th year, FS has established its own brand within the fashion industry, and is proud to be the largest, most successful student-run show in the UK.
With the shows growth came a significant charitable influence both near and far to St Andrews, supporting both key British charities and young British designers alike. FS’ collaborations between fashion, charity and history, allow a platform upon which emerging designers can gain recognition.

CHARITY PARTNERS
Organisers partner with an ambitious charity each year that is dedicated to improving the lives of those less fortunate, for FS2019 the charity partner was homelessness charity, Social Bite.
The FS organisation were keen to build a relationship with a charity that embodies their ethos of togetherness and community support. Social Bite, a charity that have dedicated their work to aiding Britains homeless population, were the perfect choice for this years partnership.

RUNWAY READY
GlamCandy tutor and makeup artist, Amanda McCarthy, was the lead artist for the event, with Sasha Bell working as core organiser for the artists.
Our students Mhari Law, Anna Reilly, Emma Stewart, Silvia Dobroviceanu, and Lauren Alexander were all selected to work at the event due to their dedication and passion for makeup artistry.

Students were given a two-hour time scale to complete all 21 of the models looks. For some, this was the first insight into a fast paced, professional industry environment and working to a tight deadline.
EVENTS COORDINATOR
Sasha Bell said, “The whole GlamCandy artistry team worked together professionally, which made the time scale given run seamlessly.
“The brief for the looks was for metallic graphic liner. Students were told to adapt the look to enhance the models natural features.”

LEAD ARTIST
Lead artist, Amanda McCarthy, gave the students a brief demonstration of the desired look – dewy skin with the full coverage look to display what was expected of them.

Feedback from clients stated that each look produced by the students was done to an extremely professional standard and fulfilled the provided brief. Metallic liner was echoed throughout each models look, perfectly complimenting the fashion.

BACKSTAGE
Ensuring liner was intact and keeping skin dewy for the runway, lead artist Amanda worked backstage to complete the final touch-ups of the models makeup.

Amanda said, “The atmosphere backstage was incredible. Everyone is so engrossed in perfecting each aspect about the looks. From the hair to the clothes, it was a pleasure to be involved.
“From completing previous fashion shows with St Andrews university, I was able to pass on insider tips I had accumulated to the students, which really helped with their confidence.”
