Makeup Trends: AW19 GlamCandy

Put down your contour palette, rouge is back, baby!

With sweet cherry temples taking over the runways and red carpets, it’s definitely a AW19 makeup trend that’s warming our complexions.

It’s true that peach blush traditionally becomes popular come springtime, but as the summer sun leaves us, we’re not ready to leave the peachy tones behind this Autumn.

Dust off your powder blush, we’re going for a more dewy and natural blush look in the coming seasons. In fact, makeup artists backstage at Fashion Week have recently been using lipstick as blush, taking the conventional uses for products and turning them on their heads.

Here at GlamCandy, this month was the launch of our ‘Bring Back Blush’ campaign. Our Pro Artists created some show-stopping looks making blush fashionable again. We are running a competition for the best blushing babe to win a photoshoot with us, just tag #blusheffect for a chance over on Instagram!

Faux Freckles

Want to look like you’ve just come back from the Maldives, without the sun damage? Faux freckles are a trend that have taken the beauty industry by storm, and celebrities such as Selena Gomez have recently been known to sport the look.

In 2013, faux freckles were recognised as the best tool for anti-ageing skin, giving an instant sense of a youthful glow.

In an article by Refinery29, makeup artist Ruth Crilly claims that “the easiest way to keep youth and freshness is to draw freckles”. For many make-up artists working on shows, freckles remain a symbol of the 60’s, and are usually combined with the style of the era.

The #fauxfreckles trend has been trending on Instagram and has boosted the obsession for the freckled look everyone’s been loving. There are not only pencils and pomades to create your sun-kissed look, but freckle stencils available on the market to recreate the trend this Summer.

Glowing Skin

Forget matte, AW19 makeup trends are all about dewy, glowing skin. This season, cheekbones and foreheads are more radiant than ever before, but not with the powder highlighters we know so well.

MUAs have been preferring the use of liquid or cream highlighters to give a more natural sheen. Liquid highlighters give a natural glow, making you look like you’ve had 8 hours sleep and drank a lot more water than you actually have.

Fluffy Brows

Embrace your natural Autumn vibe this year, and focus on having the fluffiest brows anyone ever did see. Brush out your arches to volumize your natural shape, and while you’re at it, ease up on the tweezers and embrace the fluff.

The trend rings similar to feathered brows, however the only difference being that you are doing away with any shaping whatsoever – all of those hairs are staying put!

“The perfectly painted ‘Instagram’ brow is out!” says Dior makeup artist, Daniel Martin.

To prevent your brows looking too dense and heavy, look to tinted brow gels such as Glossier Boy Brow or lightweight powders to fill any sparse areas.

You can also use pens or pencils to draw on brow hairs for a natural effect, and some tinted gels are even packed with small fibres to help fluff your brows up.
