As the Summer sun sets again, we cannot help to question what are the hottest AW 19 make up trends. Luckily enough, the GlamCandy Pro makeup artists have been on the hunt for the eye-catching trends.
‘Bring Back Blusher’ #BlushEffect
Put down your contouring palette and step away from ‘no make-up’ make-up – blusher is making a comeback for Fall 19. Blusher has made a big comeback this year, with sweet cherry temples taking over the runway, red carpet and sidewalks. It’s definitely a AW19 makeup trend that’s warming our hearts and complexions.
It’s true, peach blush traditionally becomes popular come spring, but as the summer sun leaves us with a similar shade, we couldn’t be readier for peachy tones cheeks this AW.
Don’t start dusting off your old powder blusher just yet, and you can certainly forget about applying it in doll-like circles across the apples of your cheeks.
This is androgynous blush. A more natural and cooler-toned look that you don’t even need a traditional blusher to achieve it. In fact, the make-up artists backstage at Fashion Week used lipstick as blush, taking the conventional uses for makeup and turning them on their heads.
Here at GlamCandy, this month has also been the launch of our ‘Bring Back Blush’ campaign. Our Pro Artists created some show-stopping looks making blush wearable again. We are also running a competition to win a photoshoot. Just tag #blusheffect for a chance to win!
Want to look like you’ve just stepped off the plane of a luxurious holiday without the sun damage? Faux freckles are a trend that has taken over the beauty world and celebrities like Selena Gomez have taken measures into their own hands to achieve the look as well.
In 2013, freckles were also recognised as the best tool for anti-ageing giving a direct sense of a youthful glow. In an article by Refinery29, makeup artist Ruth Crilly claims that “the easiest way to keep youth and freshness is to draw freckles”. For many makeup artists working on shows, freckles remain a symbol of the 60’s so they are also usually combined with the Retro style of the era.
The #fauxfreckles trend also appeared on Instagram and boosted the freckles trend. There are not only pencils and eyebrow markers but freckle stencils available on the market today to recreate the trend this Summer!
Forget matte, AW 2019 makeup trends are all about glowing skin, shining healthfully with a natural gleam. This season cheekbones and foreheads were highlighted softly, but not with powder highlighters. Makeup artists preferred a touch of liquid or cream luminisor to give a more natural sheen. Liquid luminisors give an effective natural glow without making you look like you’ve had a full 8 hours sleep and a couple of litres of water when you secretly haven’t.
Embrace your makeup-free AW vibe and just focus on the brows. Brush out your arches to volumize your natural shape. While you’re at it, ease up on the tweezers and embrace the fluff. The trend is very similar to feathered brows, the only difference being that the area underneath the arch remains completely untouched, doing away with any shaping whatsoever. “The perfectly painted ‘Instagram’ brow is out!” says Dior makeup artist, Daniel Martin.
To prevent your brows looking too dense and heavy look to tinted brow gels or light powders to fill in any sparse areas. You can also use pens or pencils to draw on brow hairs for a natural effect, making sure to use a gentle touch. Some tinted gels are packed with small fibres to help pack out and fluff up your brows quickly.
