We understand that starting out in the beauty industry is an immensely daunting task. This is why we offer our students copious amounts of exclusive opportunities to work with beauty experts and make invaluable connections.
We held an in-house competition with our Edinburgh HNC in Fashion and Makeup Artistry students to win their own photoshoot with our professional photographers based on mood boards they had presented in class.
The winners were (now HNC tutor) Alice Dickson and Elle Bruce who won a photoshoot with Gillian Beyer, a local nail technician and co-owner of The Creative Rooms, completing the makeup for her advertising in-store.
Alice and Elle presented moodboards full of festive sparkle stars and pops of fuchsia. It was a very creative board and transpired on the photoshoot to be exactly what Gillian, the client had asked for.
Not only are our HNC students gaining vital experience being the lead makeup artist on photoshoots like these but they are also taught how to act behind the scenes in a professional environment. In GlamCandy we teach our students not only how to apply makeup but the business-related manor in how to conduct and run your own self-employed business. This really sets the HNC students up for employment when they finish the course and not to mention further guidance from our Student Development Director, Claire Stead.
