A deep dive into the cult (and surprisingly affordable) products that celebrities keep in their own makeup bags on a day-to-day basis.
Celebrities often have makeup artists using countless products on them to create numerous looks, whether for photoshoots, red carpet events or for TV and film. So, we’re curious to know which products they personally favour when they have free reign in their downtime. Read on to curate your next beauty shopping list…
Blake Lively
The OG Gossip Girl star currently has almost 30 million followers on Instagram. Here, she shares personal snaps, often with hilarious captions. She has previously used the platform to display details of her outfits, jewellery, nails and -most importantly- her personal makeup stash. Among her collection are multiple face products by Charlotte Tilbury, as well as pencil liners from Urban Decay, and a colour correcting face palette by Make Up For Ever.
Dua Lipa
Dua admits that she often goes makeup-free when she is not working and is still experimenting when it comes to applying her own makeup. We think she must be doing something right as she always seems to look amazing. As she is a fan of low-key effort, she recommends a slick of mascara as well as Glossier’s Balm Dotcom in Birthday, which is a rich, hydrating lip balm that is reported to smell incredible.
Lily Collins
Star of fashion-forward Netflix show Emily In Paris, Lily is always photographed looking flawless whether on or off set. Whilst she also tends to favour a “no-makeup makeup” look, she recently revealed that she is a long-time fan of Lancôme Juicy Tubes lip glosses because of their scent and colours. Lancôme relaunched these ultra shiny glosses after their huge popularity in the 00s. This has definitely led us down a 00s nostalgia rabbit hole!
Emma Watson
British actress Emma keeps a fairly low profile nowadays but has previously proven to be way ahead of the curve when it comes to seeking sustainable and transparent beauty brands. In an interview with beauty blog Into the Gloss, she reveals how significant a classic red lip is to her, and how she favours lipstick from natural UK beauty brand Lily Lolo.
Gemma Chan
Gemma is one to watch in the beauty world, as she was announced as an ambassador for L’Oréal last year. In an interview with British Vogue, she reveals that she keeps the brand’s Infallible Very Matte Lipstick Crayon in shade Mon Cinnamon in her handbag. She has also previously recommended Maybelline’s the Falsies waterproof mascara for fine, straight lashes. She applies this using a separating wand, and advises that the waterproof formula helps to hold a curl. Genius!
Adam Lambert
As well as maintaining a successful singing career, US-based Adam has now uploaded a fun makeup tutorial series on his YouTube channel. This is an amazing insight into his favourite products, with brands such as MAC and Fenty making regular appearances. He particularly favours the Fenty contour stick in shade Amber, which he uses in a multitude of looks to create a ‘shadow’ contour effect.
We hope you enjoyed this insight into the off-duty routines of these celebrities and which products they personally use. We’ll race you to the checkout…
