Course Content

Not only does a successful makeup artist need essential skills in application and the correct use of their kit, but knowledge of every skin type, shade and shape are crucial in the personal tailoring of your clients experiences.

 

Students will gain in-depth knowledge of:

Colour theory
Learning about colour combinations, terminology and colour correction, setting you up with the ability to match colours for every make-up look.

Face shape: eyes, lips, brows
You will learn about different face shapes, lip shapes and brow shapes to be able to cater for anyone who sits down in your make-up chair.

Skin types, tones and preparation
Here you’ll learn about how to work with different skin types, textures and skin colours to allow you to create looks appropriate for everyone!

Product knowledge and hygiene
This is where you’ll find out more about the ins and outs of basic hygiene and how to work in a professional and sanitary manner.

Mastering the use of makeup brushes
We will show you how to optimize the use of your make-up brushes to allow you to create the look you want to achieve.

Foundation types & colour matching
Looking at the different finishes of foundation, whether you’re creating a flawless, matte full coverage base or a medium, dewy and glowing finish – we have you covered.

Client consultations and face chart design
Plan the ultimate glam look and learn how to cater to all of your client’s needs whilst we guide you through a thorough consultation process.

Bridal basics
Our artists will take you through both classic and modern bridal make-up looks inspired by creations of bridal make-up artists across the world making you prepared for a step into the bridal industry.

Vintage makeup: 20’s, 40’s
Our tutors will take you back through the decades, showcasing two classic make-up looks perfect to cater to fancy dress clientele.

Evening makeup
Looking to offer an occasion make-up service in a salon? This part of the course will equip you with two versatile soft glam looks which will get people in your make-up chair!

Test Your Knowledge
You will be assessed on the skills you have learned over the previous weeks. Our tutors will observe you creating one of the looks you have learned on the course and offer feedback on where you did well and what you can improve on, bettering your skills for when you go out into the world of make-up!

Can I continue my studies with GlamCandy?
Many of our students have chosen to further their studies in other areas of make-up artistry. After completing our Introduction to Make-Up Artistry Course course, students can study any of our other 5 day professional courses such as Bridal Make-Up, SFX, TV, Theatre & Film, Glam, Fashion & E-Commerce.

Can I enrol in the SQA HNC Fashion Make-Up Course on completion of the Introduction Course?
Yes, all pro course students are welcome to apply for a space on our 6 month HNC Fashion Make-Up course. Students can apply in any of our college locations by completing this form.

Payment Options

Flexible payment plans available up to 12 months. Or you can spread the cost further with one of our finance agreements up to 5 years. Once you have paid your deposit we will be in touch to discuss which payment options are most suitable to you.
