SQA registration & certificates
Enrolment and admin fees
Many students self-fund from personal money, savings, finance, use their monthly income or apply to SAAS (Students Award Agency Scotland) & SLC (Student Loans Company) to cover the cost.
University and college can be expensive, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t afford to go. This guide created by the Scholarship Hub is intended to provide you with all the information you need about student finances. Click here to explore your options. https://www.thescholarshiphub.org.uk/
Please note that as we are a private institution we are not exempt from VAT unlike public colleges & universities. VAT is charged at 20% of the course or product fees. e.g. HNC course fees are £5,760 which means the total cost is £7,200 including VAT. If you are a VAT registered business we can organise a VAT receipt for you to claim this back.
Fees, bursaries and loans explained
There are three main sections of SAAS and Student Loan funding and how they are paid. You will receive
a SAAS Award letter on your account, this letter details your tuition fees and bursary, including how
much student loan you will receive. You will then receive a separate payment schedule from the
Student Loan company detailing your loan payments. Please send these to us as soon as you receive
them to organise your payment schedule.
– SAAS Tuition Fee – This is a one-off payment of £1205 that is paid directly from SAAS to
GlamCandy Ltd. This is a grant that you do not pay back.
– Bursary – Your bursary is paid in monthly instalments, you do not have to pay this back unless
you leave the course prematurely. If you do leave before gaining your qualification, you may have to pay back a percentage of your bursary. This is dependent on how far into the course you are and how much bursary you have received. For example, if you completed 50% of the course but received 60% of your bursary, you would have to pay back the remaining 10%.
– Student Loan – This is again paid in monthly instalments, however you do have to pay this back.
Below you will find an income threshold, if your annual income is below this amount you will not be required to make any repayments.
As of April 2021, the threshold for repayments has been raised to £25,000 per annum (before
deductions). Student Loans Company will expect you to repay 9% of your annual income if you earn over
£25,000 per year. This amount can change with inflation, and a different limit may apply if you move to
live outside of the UK.
For example, if you are earning £26,000 per year, you are £1000 over the threshold and would pay back
9% of the £1000 over the year. This amounts to £90, or £7.50 a month.
We realise that this section of the enrolment process can be somewhat confusing, so please do not
hesitate to contact the admissions team for assistance and for any questions you may have.
If you are applying for SAAS funding, you will receive a ‘SAAS Guidance’ email, detailing the application
process. This includes some useful links to assist you in your application, as well as advice on what
additional funding you may be eligible for dependent on your circumstances.

The photoshoots have inspired me to pursue a career in Editorial & Runway make-up due to enjoying the experiences so much. But, for me, the absolute highlight was my tutor. Paulina, our main tutor, is an angel packed with a wildly expansive portfolio & wealth of knowledge.
My favourite thing about GlamCandy is the tutors and the amount of support we receive during the course. I love that we get so many different opportunities and get to express ourselves through our work with encouragement from classmates and tutors.
I have had so many amazing experiences and learned so much. It has been an intense course but the things I have learned in such a short space of time is unbelievable. I would highly recommend it to people who are serious about a career in make-up.
I came to GlamCandy to learn about make-up, however, I have learnt much more than that. The tutors are excellent, they provide so much information and will do anything possible to help each and every student.
I am grateful for this experience and the friendships I have made on this course will continue to grow after we have finished. From the confidence, I have gained doing make-up on other people I have now got a job self-employed in a salon.
