We spoke to graduate Iona Menzies(@iionamenzies), who studied her HNC Makeup Artistry with GlamCandy throughout lockdown, has been nominated for Makeup Artist of the Year with Scottish Fashion Association.
“My time with GlamCandy was amazing, I studied my HNC throughout Covid and it definitely made lockdown an easier and happier time. I was between jobs and was looking for something new to do, I have always been good at art so when the GlamCandy advert came up I took the chance and just went for it. I had no end goal, I just wanted to learn, make friends and gain experience.”
“The highlight of the course for me was definitely gaining new friends and the experience it gave me in a new city. The course gave me confidence and so many opportunities. My favourite style to learn would have to be anything Creative and SFX related.”
“Once I graduated with an A in my HNC, I built up a client base for myself and my following on social media. This year I’ve been nominated for MUA of the year by Scottish Fashion Association! I feel so grateful and happy as a few years ago I could never have imagined I’d be in such a great place in my life.”
In 5 years time Iona would like to see herself working in the makeup industry and creating content on social media. If she could choose any celebrity to do their makeup, she would love to get the chance to do Jenna Ortega, American actress who was recently the lead role in the Netflix series Wednesday.
