Dunfermline HNC Fashion Makeup student, Alisha MacCallum, is an outstanding example of the determination we see from our students here at GlamCandy. Working in Costa Coffee whilst studying, Alisha has worked tirelessly to succeed in both her studies and her career.
In just 3 months of studying her course, Alisha’s skills and knowledge of the industry have blossomed. She said, “I didn’t really know what to expect before I started the course, but since I’ve started, I have learned so much.
“I love that the course includes makeup of all eras and that I am able to learn different techniques from different tutors.
“The best thing is that you are able to practice different looks, so you’re confident and prepared for any situation you’re presented with.”

FUTURE PROSPECTS
Alisha hopes to establish herself as a freelance MUA after her course is finished, and is already in the midst of organising and creating 1:1 personal lessons.
She is also keen on learning how to apply HD brows to her clients – a highly recommended investment into her future – showing that she can offer both makeup artistry and aspects of beauty therapy.
ALISHA’S ADVICE
Alisha’s most useful piece of advice for aspiring makeup artists is to be confident within yourself. She said, “Since I started my course with GlamCandy, this has become a skill I think is essential in the industry.
“You are constantly working on so many different faces, skin types and skin tones, that it has given me the confidence to just go for it – not only in class but in my own life.
“The overwhelming support received by the tutors and other students really does improve your confidence to believe in yourself.”
