HND STUDENT SUCCESS AT EDINBURGH NAPIER UNIVERSITY

We’re overjoyed in GlamCandy to announce that one of our HND students has been working alongside Edinburgh Napier University on the set of the new movie, Dust.

Amy Walker @amywalker2301, is a devoted student, consistently meeting deadlines in her HND with GlamCandy and going above and beyond for her follow classmates. In regards to this, Amy was chosen by her HND tutor, Amanda McCarthy to complete a character creation for the film.

SHOOT DAY

The shoot day was on Friday the 25th of January on location at the Simulation and Clinic Centre at Napier University, which is an exact replica of a hospital ward. The brief was to create a look that showed an older woman in hospital passing away from an illness.

PRODUCTION

The production was to commence at 11am and Amy arrived at 10.30am so she was able to position herself in the correct lighting position to create the best result for her character creation.

PRODUCTS USED

The look created was to emphasise the poorly state of the woman with bruises and hollowed eyes. The products that Amy used were as follows:-

1. Illamasqua Skin Base 01

2. Illamasqua Skin base 3.5

3. Mehron Bruise Wheel - used to give the model the look of having jaundice in the eyes

4. MAC Lipstick, Lightly Charred - to give the model blue tones lips as a sign of deoxygenation

5. Avene Thermal Spring Water - to make the model look sweaty to emphasise the severity of their situation

6. Wella Professionals Reflection Oil - to give the hair a greasy effect as a result of sweat

In regards to her experience on set, Amy states:-

“Being on HND helped with this as I had knowledge from our Character Unit where we learned to create looks for illness.

Prior to every application Amanda McCarthy our tutor would do research in class and then we would further this research and then creating this look. Therefore, I had my mood boards and ideas ready to present to the Producer and Director. "
