Student spotlight incoming for our girl Cora Grace (@coragrace_makeup). Cora joined us to study HNC Fashion Makeup with GlamCandy and has managed to bag herself a job with Laura Mercier 2 months ago!
“I’m loving my experience with GlamCandy, so far they have provided me with so many amazing opportunities to work with other artist, photographers AND stylists, I’ve learnt so much from the talented tutors. I enrolled for my HNC to learn from the artists themselves who work in the fashion industry. It’s been amazing getting insight to what it’s like to work in the industry. My end goal is to work freelance as a makeup artist in commercial and fashion shoots.”
The highlight of Cora’s experience so far has been the working on her final looks. GlamCandy provide the students with assessments that can really showcase their talent and get their creativity flowing. Cora was able to create a full look, including costume, headpiece and finished with amazing pictures for her portfolio.
“My favourite part of HNC so far has definitely been the Decade Fashion! We got the chance to learn how makeup fashions changed through the years. My favourite decade to recreate would have to be the 60’s!”
We go through the History of Hair & Makeup so the students can learn everything from the Boufounts and Bee Hive hairstyles, to The Great Gatsby and Flapper makeup. This unit will teach you a variety of influential classic styles to inspire your creativity.
“I started working with Laura Mercier 2 months ago and I am LOVING it! I have had the opportunity to work with a brand that matches my makeup style and also learn all about the sales side to the makeup industry and have in depth knowledge about products that I can pass on.”
“In 5 years time I see myself working freelance with other small businesses and brands creating looks for commercial shoots and hopefully fashion shoots. I would LOVE to some day work at London Fashion Week and see my work.”
Cora is also very creative out with makeup, enjoying painting in her spare time. She paints small canvases using acrylic paints, which is a great way to keep her creativity flowing which will benefit her hugely in her makeup.
“If I could paint any influencers face I would LOVE to do @KeilidhMUA. If I could give any aspiring makeup artists some advice it would be to just trust the process, everyone has to start somewhere and if you put in the work someday you’ll find yourself where you’ve always wanted to be. Progress over Perfection.”
