Luis is a 26 year old Portuguese makeup artist that moved to Scotland in 2017 with nothing but a dream. At the age of 12, he was doing face paint and body paint for Halloween and when he turned 15 he started doing kids parties with modelling balloons and face paints.He started with GlamCandy in 2020, doing his HNC in Fashion Makeup through lockdown, eventually getting to go into the college towards the end when restrictions were lifted. He then started assisting the tutors with anything they needed, from cleaning brushes to assisting their models and artists in their shots. Eventually GlamCandy started to ask for his help with classes and now he teaches as a Freelance Tutor.
Due to Luis teaching freelance, he travels to all locations depending on the demand. Luis arrives before students, following his morning routine and then getting to the college.After class is complete, he will either attend his second job running a full restaurant and bar in a gorgeous boutique hotel in the west end, or he goes home to turn into the perfect housewife.
He always knew he wanted to play with body arts and makeup but was scared about what people would say, so he went and studied Visual Arts as it was the closest thing to makeup. Eventually, Luis decided to embrace his inner dream and started doing makeup for family events like birthdays and weddings. For 4 years, he worked as part of an entertainment team for a major resort chain, so he was able to continue his passion for makeup on his colleagues and got to see his work on stage during performances. Theatre, Movies and TV shows have always been something that he has been interested in, so he came to GlamCandy to complete his HNC and then came back and done our SFX Pro Course.
“Every moment I’m not working, I’m either painting or creating mood boards for photoshoots, or getting creative with makeups as it is my passion.”
