Our 2023 So Far

We have already hit the halfway mark!
The first 6 months of the year at GlamCandy have been busy and we’re here to tell you all about them. From photoshoots and videography to masterclasses and collaborations, we’ve done it all.

Our first main event that we attended in the new year was Glow Up Star, Yong Chin’s, masterclass in Glasgow where she demonstrated her talents by creating a masterpiece inspired by Club Kid.

We also had our Y2K shoot in January, where our students showed their talents through all things colour!

February brought us our beach photoshoot, metals photoshoot, the GRAMMYS, the BRITS, London Fashion Week and our collaboration with Zo Jewellery. This was a busy month that that gave us a lot of makeup inspiration! Our tutors were lucky enough to work at London Fashion Week again and shared their time there on our social media platforms. View our LFW highlight on our Instagram page to see their incredible work!

Our students had a lot of their assessments on in March as well as being a part of the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show. The fashion show allowed some of our students to work in a fast-paced environment and gave them an understanding of the standards required within the industry.

One of our assessment photoshoots in Glasgow collaborated with the jewellery brand Asima. We love collaborating with brands like Asima on our student photoshoots, the results are always immaculate.

April was an important month for our graduates as this was the month we announced we were hosting a graduation for all our students who attended and graduated from 2020 to now.

Alice, our social media manager, also got the opportunity to go down to London to the Fenty Beauty event for their new Hellathicc Mascara where she shared her time down there on our Instagram and Facebook stories. Make sure to follow us @glamcandyuk to keep up with what we are up to.

The iconic Coachella Festival was held in April and gave us and our students so much inspo for makeup looks. We shared all our favourites on our socials to give our followers more inspiration to get creative.

May kick started with the Met Gala and our students got to work! They created looks inspired by what they had seen on the red carpet and their talents shined.

Our tutors and students worked on the Glasgow School of Art Graduate show, creating looks from the brief they were given from our creative director Steph Ferry. Again, this allowed the students who attended to gain experience within the industry.

We collaborated with “Love those Lashes” in May for our student photoshoot in Dunfermline where our students used a pastel colour palette on their models and created flawless final looks. You can view the final photos of this shoot here on our website.

We had Urban Decay host two Masterclasses in our Glasgow college and Edinburgh college that our students across all four of our colleges could attend. This was so informative for our students as they learned new techniques from the pros and got to test their products. They were also lucky enough to be able to purchase their products with an exclusive discount to up their makeup kits!

Our Edinburgh college held a photoshoot in Princes Street Gardens. This shoot was for our student’s assessment. This time we collaborated with Zenzero Clothing.

June, the halfway point.

To start of the last month of the first half of the year, we had our Wild Things photoshoot in Glasgow. We collaborated with Wild Things for our student’s assessment photoshoot, using their clothing on our models and shot outside in different locations in Glasgow.

We had another student photoshoot in the month of June in our Aberdeen college. For this one, we collaborated with White Rabbit Skincare. This was shot inside our college and our students created very minimal, glowy makeup on their models to fit the brief.

The countdown was on for our student graduation this month as it was being held on the 7th of July. We posted a lot of stories on our social media so all our attendees knew all the information they needed and were well prepared for the event.

Our biggest event in these first 6 months was our billboard shoot! This was held in Edinburgh at Studio 128 where we shot our billboard campaign to promote GlamCandy. Not only did we take pictures, but we shot a BTS video of the whole day to give you an insight of what a big shoot like this consists of. Make sure to refresh our socials to be the first to see the BTS of this shoot, in the meantime we have a story highlight on our Instagram page that you can view to see what we got up to on that day. Keep an eye out in Edinburgh and Glasgow to see GlamCandy on the billboards.

In honour of June being pride month, we held a pride giveaway competition for our followers on Instagram. The giveaway consisted of a £250 cash prize and a makeup goody bag. We asked them to create a pride inspired makeup look and choose our winner out of all the entries and announced it on our social media platforms.

Our winner was @shannonkibblemua. See her work below.
