Holly always loved creating, whether it be designing, painting or drawing. Upon leaving school, she decided to study art and design, however she felt it wasn't the sector of the creative industry she was born to work in.
Having always been obsessed with expressing her creativity through her make-up, she decided to have a look at make-up courses. Holly enrolled with GlamCandy, and studied her HND in Make-Up Artistry, where she learned everything there is to know about the industry.
With the opportunities Holly had during her course, her talent and enthusiasm to learn, GlamCandy took Holly on as a staff member. She has now worked on commercial, editorial and fashion shoots and even attended London Fashion Week. Holly absolutely loves her job as a tutor, and feels it is the most rewarding experience to see other students work as hard as she did to become their best.
She also enjoys all things skincare and loves creating make-up looks suitable for all skin types, tones and ages. As a make-up artist, she believes in using make-up for self-expression and self love, as it's such a great way to highlight your confidence and personal style.
What motivated you to get into make-up?
I was always creating glam looks on myself, my friends and my family. I was also obsessed with getting the latest make-up products, so this, paired with my artistic interests, led me to the career I have today.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
I would say that one of my biggest inspirations is Jamie Genevieve, as she is a fellow Scottish MUA.
She started from the very bottom, working at make-up counters and doing small jobs and now works for all the biggest make-up brands and influences thousands of make-up artists starting out in the industry.
What is your must-have product?
My must-have product just now is the Illamasqua Beyond Liquid Highlighter in the shade "OMG", it's great to mix in with foundation and to pat on top of your cheeks for an extra bit of glow.
What do you like most about teaching?
The bit I love about teaching is measuring the progress of a students work from the beginning and watching them bloom as an artist! It's such a rewarding process.
